Wendy Meister has a record of taking on powerful interests and winning.
Wendy Meister is a long-time Lake County resident who has a record of taking on powerful interests and winning. As a whistle-blower, she exposed reckless spending in Lake County government and led the charge to hold the responsible parties accountable for their actions. As a Good Government Advocate, she has been a long-time champion for local government efficiency.
Wendy is a trustee for the Lincolnshire-Riverwoods Fire District and has a Master’s Degree in Architecture and a degree in Sociology with an emphasis in Criminal Justice. Over the years, she has planned courthouses, correctional facilities, public and affordable housing, and commercial facilities. Currently, Wendy travels throughout Lake County collecting data for the Department of Health and Human Services’ National Survey on Drug Use and Health.
As a grassroots organizer, Wendy has worked tirelessly to elect candidates committed to good government, to end public waste, and for property tax reform. Her no-nonsense, “let’s get it done,” attitude has won her broad recognition as a progressive reformer who achieves results. Now, Wendy is ready to take on her next challenge: serving as a Lake County Board Member.
Growing up, Wendy’s parents were always very active in the community. They volunteered to sit on boards and raise money for organizations. From a young age, they encourage her siblings and Wendy to do the same. They taught Wendy that the greatest reward is improving the lives of others.
Wendy is a resident of Riverwoods, where she raised her daughter and loves the large expanse of the Lake County Forest Preserve that is characteristic of the 3rd District.
